Open PPS Files

When you create a slide show in Microsoft PowerPoint and save it as a finished product it will create the pps file extension. To open a pps file you must have a registered copy of Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer. The only other alternative is to have a program installed which is compatible with the pps file extension. Currently the only free program which allows you to view a pps file extension with out the use of Microsoft PowerPoint is Open Office. It is important to note that the pps file extension is a finished PowerPoint slide show. This means that the file is un-editable. You will need the original ppt file if you would like to edit the slide show.

Open Office Impress is the Open Office version of Microsoft’s PowerPoint program. Open Office Impress comes in the Open Office bundle and is free for anyone to download and use. The Open Office bundle of programs can be compared to Microsoft Office program bundle. The difference is that Open Office is not mad by a company it is constructed from the internet community’s ingenuity. Open Office also varies from Microsoft Office in its compatibility. Open Office is much more compatible with other software’s file extensions then Microsoft Office.
